Chicken Keeping

At Hidden Gardens, we love chickens and we want to promote backyard chicken keeping!! Zoning typically allows for 2 to 3 chickens per household. During these tough economic times, a steady supply of fresh organic eggs is just the beginning of the many benefits of raising you own chickens. Chickens make great pets, especially the breeds we have specially selected. They can increase the output of your vegetable and fruit gardens by fertilizing and keeping pests and weeds under control.

With new clutches of baby chicks arriving every week through spring and summer, our how-to workshops will help you tend to your backyard flock. We will send you right next door to Aptos Feed for all the supplies you will need, including feed and watering containers. We can help design and build a backyard henhouse that will work best for your space. We are currently building coops that are not only highly functional for easy egg harvesting but are simple to clean out. Our coop designs are customizable and will make an attractive addition to any backyard garden.
